Kawayan Hostel turns two!

Time has gone by so fast since Hanj began restoring the hostel in May 2023, and officially launching in October of the same year. Although we are still new, two years later we are growing thanks to your help.

In October of 2025 we began the launch of Kawayan Hostel’s new extension! This building project has been a huge task for us, full of lessons, frustrations (!), and comradery, but we made it out the other side with all of your support.

Downstairs in the extension we have opened our new dormitory bunk rooms and double family rooms. In the coming weeks we will launch the same room types upstairs. And, in the near future we will be opening our brand new rooftop common area where all of our guests can mingle and chill with an outlook over General Luna.

Most guests at Kawayan Hostel like to get around on motorbikes, so we put together a website for a local business to make bike rentals easy during your stay with us. Siargao Motorbike Rentals is run by some of our onsite folk, so you’ll be able to rent a motorbike directly from our team.

We’ve also been busy putting together a bunch of helpful resources for you and our future guests to enjoy during your next stay with us. We have a Guest Directory that will be ready soon and will show you all of our fave places to eat, drink, tour, and explore. This will also include emergency contacts, a helpful local language kit (kakaloka!), and helpful local services to make your stay easy breezy.

Lastly, we are excited to share our new Kawayan Hostel store with you! We’ve got merch for the hostel, for Siargao, and of course #chillvibes island life items.
